aterials needed: a piece of 1/2 inch x 2 inch mild steel flat bar. Cut two pieces 1/2 in. wide, 3/4 in. in height and 2 in. in length. Weld these onto the lift arms 180 degrees apart. I used E60ll 5/32 inch welding rod using 105 amps on my Lincoln welder. 2 pound hammer, and I used a number 5 tip on with my acetylene oxygen set to heat the arm.
Other thingss needed: Two jaw gear puller, and a 2 pound hammer. Procedure: Attach the gear puller to the welded on pieces and put the end of the puller in the end of the rocker shaft. Tighten the gear puller and heat all around the lift arm--Use a lot of heat--Tap on the end of the gear puller and retighten the gear puller--Continue this process until the arm comes off the splines. I had the top cover removed and had the hydraulic cylinder and other parts removed from the top cover. It is my opinion that this process would work with the top cover in place. A person would want to put a cloth over the top cover and run water on the top cover to prevent heat from the torch doing damage to items inside the cover. It would be necessary to remove the fender and probably the wheel in order to strike the end of the gear puller with the hammer. The picture shows the retainer plate in place and this was removed when I worked to remove the lift arms. I was able to remove both arms in about 20 minutes per side. I've sent pictures and please feel free to contact me for more information if needed. [email protected]
