What is the best way to install the hydraulic pump, control valve, and top cover on a 1948 TE 20? The control forks need to be spread to connect to the control valve--How is this done? Should I install the pump and control valve then the top cover? Top cover first then the pump?
The manual I have: " ...working through the two openings loosen the bolts holding the stabilizer
to the forks and spread the ends of the control fork..." what and where are these bolts what is the stabilizer? Thank you for any assistance you may be able to provide

As Dennis says, email John (UK) and he will provide you with great instructions. However, I want to mention that presumably the top cover is still installed?? If so, don"t pull it off until you spread the forks! You will damage something if you try to pull the top cover off before spreading the forks. Have you drained the reservoir? You may want to do that. It holds six gallons of GL-1 lube, and there are multiple drain plugs and you will get some sediment out. You can be doing that while waiting on John"s instructions.

Post a request to John(UK). He recently sent me some very detailed and valuable instructions for servicing the hydraulic system on my TE 20.
Or, you can email John at [email protected]
