Jerry, Put the 3116 plugs in my to35 today before i started it. Took out 388's a resistored plug like the 386. Fired it up and i noticed it was laboring a little more that normal and when i took off with it the low end torque was weaker.
I thought it was just cold and hadn't been running for a while.Run it and warmed it up good, still a little weak, Changed the timing a little by ear till it sounded right and the low end power came back to normal and it rev's up good. Sounds great. Turned the idle down to 300 rpm and it purred like a kitten for over 20 minutes. The arcing in the distributor is gone! Before if you let it idle a about 550 it would start arcing , and if you didn't rev it up a little it would burn down through the rotor to the shaft and quit. So you're post solved my problem. (Many Thanks) The last thing in the world i would have suspected was the plugs. Like you i didn't think plugs made any difference other than hotter or colder one's. But it seems to have changed the timing a little just changing from a resistored plug and stopped the arcing that started right after i put in the pertronix ign. I don't quite understand it but it works for me. Thanks again-ed
