My TO-30 has developed a slow leak at the valve stem and I have tried tightening the core but the shoulders are broke off. I have the little four way tool for removing the core but how do I get it out if the shoulders are broke?

i have not figured out the link yet on this new forum. soory. just copy and paste. these are the two styles. yours is one of them. i did notice that the second one i replaced which was the older style has a regular core in it. the four way will remove a broken regular core with the easy out looking part of the tool.

if its like the first one i fixed i had the same problem. you cant remove the core because its not removable. the top half is considered the core. also beware that if you have the liquid in your tire you want the valve stem at the top before letting the air out or you will get a nasty liquid. you will need to hold the lower half with pliers and remove the top half. i will find a page that shows you the old and new styles.

It's the rear left tire. I thought it looked like there are two separate halves. I tried to unscrew the upper half but it won't come loose. When I mash the core in there isn't very much air comes out at all, like it's stopped up, but put a little spit on it and she bubbles right up. The four way valve stem tool I have says it can be used to remove the core even if the shoulders are broke off but darned if I can figure out how it works. If it is the two piece valve stem maybe I can file the top piece down on the side until I hit threads and get it off that way.

is it a front or rear tire? you can do like the guy who sold me my tractors did. he put a new metal valve cap with a rubber gasket on my valve stems. of course i found out mine was leaking when i removed the caps for the first time. both of mine were rears with the air liquid valves. one was the old style and one was the new style. i replaced the upper halfs on both tires and it was fixed right. if yours is a rear tire you probally have a air liquid valve. one type screws onto the stem one screws into the stem. you wont find them in the big city. farm and home or a country napa auto parts.

Oh, forgot to add, it's a tube and not tubeless.
