Rebuilding Hydraulic Pump Questions

I plan to rebuild the hydraulic pump and lift ram on the TO20 this weekend. Was wondering what gaskets should get sealer. I routinely use RTV on oil pan, valve cover and such. I�m not sure if it should be applied to the internal gaskets in the pump. Is there a rule of thumb as to when you should use gasket seal and when you shouldn�t? Any tips from those who have rebuilt the pump and lift ram? The shop manual seems pretty clear but it seems like there is always a surprise waiting in there. Thanks, Jack

The 9N and otherss share the same pump. I tore apart my '20 and found no sealer used at all. RTV should be a last choice due to the possibility of rubber particles fouling the pump.
If you are a Granpa...Then you might remember Permatex #2 or possibly Indian Head Gasket glue.
Unless the Ol'timers disease has started to kick in too far. I just suffer from ADLC...

Yup I remember the indian head very well from working on old beat up cars in the 60s. I kind of figured it should be just gaskets on the internal parts. I'm assuming I should use it on the covers where they bolt up to the tractor body. The "old timers disease" as my grandma used to call it has begun to kick in. I can remember in detail stuff that happened 20 years ago but I have no clue about last week. Can be a blessing, no body expects me to remember stuff any more - takes off a lot of the pressure. I would glue the gasket to the cover and then bolt it in place. Might make it easier to remove and clean next time...
