I happened to be in Cheyenne today and spoke to Rick WY. We were discussing the transport box that he has, and I also have one.
I was curious how many of you guy's have one, and how many have actually survived. Mine has allot of surface rust but it is all there.

I plan on actually using mine and may beat it up a little in the process. The question I have is should I, or should it be preserved?

Thanks, Joe

I bought one at a sale about a year ago for $50. It is lightly rusted, the front end is dented and needs to be straightened out, and it is missing the tailgate. Has the name plate. Hold on to yours. I've only seen the one I bought in person, all others only photos.

I would soggest that you consider your transport box as fairly rare on account of it's good state of preservation. Here in Australia i guess we have only 6-10 known still to exist , and most not in as good condition as yours.I would suggest that you make a 'look alike" transport box for 'knock about"use. In the uk there were 2 variations of the transport box (in England this was sometimes referred to as the"link box"(short for linkage box). The earlier model up to approx. 1949 had vertical sides, subsequent build having sides which sloped in about 1.25" each side giving a slightly narrower floor.Which is yours?regards Tony Gilbert. I got one that came with the tractor, no tail gate though. Use it all the time bringing firewood back to the house from my bush about 1/2 mile away.

I was at an auction a2 years back and they had a 9 hole HF draw bar and a Ferg. dirt scoop, went for $7.50 and $12.00 respectively. I could not bid, as dummy me, forgot my wallet... no cash, no id, no bidding number. made me sick..

Two week later the dirt scoop sold at a consignment auction for $100.00

One of the guys here built a box out of ply wood. He has a dimensioned drawing he can send.

I am building one out of an old lawn mower yard cart a friend was getting rid of. I kept the box as is, I cut the toung in half for the 3-point attachment.

The guys name was Lonestar Jeff. He has an 8N and here is one pic of the box he built. He had several pictures of the construction but the picture links are busted.

The link has his e-mail address.
