Slow progress

I'm slowly making progress on my TO-35 "done in a damp carport" restoration. All the paint is via rattle-can, and it's a bit depressing how poorly some of it is turning out...but it still looks a heck of a lot better than it did. I plan on doing a "split the tractor, nut-and-bolt resto" in a few years. Don't have a shop, currently.

Should be ready to fire her back up this week. I'll post a reply to this note showing where I was when I started this in mid-August. Scroll down to see it.

Still have the fenders, hood, lift links, and air cleaner to work on. Got the tank on tonight but it was too dark to take a photo.

That looks real nice! I really like the color.

Your TO35 is looking good. I have one also and would like to know the name and color of the green rattle cans.

Thanks for the kind words.

I originally took this apart to fix the governor, which I discovered busted up and largely in the sump. At that point, I figured what the heck. Mechanical stuff which has been done:

* Steering box rebuild

* Front axle rebuild (new bushings, bearings, axle pivot, etc.)

* Rear axle seals

* Hydraulic controls freed and repaired

* New tires (gulp)

* Rebuilt carb

* New hoses, belts, etc.

* New wiring

I also refitted the oil pressure gauge to the dash, before it was just dangling outside the engine. Bending up a new brake line as an oil gauge pipe was an interesting exercise.

My biggest challenge is painting outside. We're just now getting to the point where the days top out at around 50 degrees and the humidity is rising. I'm hopeful I can get the fenders and hood done and painted so the tractor can sit this winter and the paint can harden a bit before it goes back to work.
