My tractor has To 7006 on the transmission and TO 4024 under the seat. My serial no. is not readable. Am I correct that this is a TO 20. The plate on my engine has serial no. 153950 I believe this to be a TE 20 serial no?

TE, for Tractor England uses an aluminum trans cover. TO, for Tractor Overseas uses a stamped steel trans cover. Do you know why the English drink warm beer? Because they have Lucas refrigerators.

On the TE's, the transmission cover and steering housing is one piece. The TO has a separate transmission housing cover where the gear shift is located.

You came to the right msg board to find out all about Fergusons! My '49 TE-20 has Lucas generator and starter, but someone replaced the Lucas distributor with the corresponding Delco unit found on TO-20's. TO-20's had all Delco electrical parts. I haven't looked mine over carefully enough to discover the #'s you describe on trans and under seat. Have fun with it! Tex
