I am looking to purchase a trailer to haul a 1954 TO-30. Can someone help me out with the approximate weight of this tractor?

Hello, I haul my to35 with loader and backhoe on a trailer with 3500 pound axels and it does fine.-ed

5000 lb is all you need, but once you start looking at trailers, you'll see that even the 5000 lb rated trailers will typically have a pair of 3500 lb axles under them... and typically the only difference between a 5000 lb trailer and a 7000 lb trailer is the strength of the frame and the springs... I'd opt for the extra metal... and certainly the tandem axles.. brakes will keep you legal and safe in all states.... Jim

I just hauled a 1952 TO-30 with a bush hog attached from eastern Tennessee back home to Louisiana on a rented 16' trailer rated at 6000 GVW with tandem axles and surge brakes with no problems at all, aside from the apparent stupidity of some of my fellow motorists. As long as the trailer is in good mechanical condition, and checked over before you leave, this type of trailer should work well for you.

3000 lbs. To haul you'll want a 7500lb tamden axil trailer minimum. Electric brakes on at least one axil and a good frame.

Shop around. Not all trailers are the same. Some have box beam frames, while others are c-channel.

A 16 footer is popular with this sice tractor, because you have enough room to haul an implemet along with the tractor.

Respectfully, I think a 7500 GVW trailer is overkill for a TO-30. A "wet" TO-30 weighs about 2570 lbs (ref. TO-30 Owners Manual) and and a small disc probably weighs no more ~ 500 lbs. I would estimate a trailer with a GVW of about 5000 lbs will do the job but I agree with Jeff(OH) that a tandem axle is the way to go. IF you are going to haul other tractors that are larger or need a multiple use trailer than you might want to size it for a higher GVW, but just to pull a TO-30 and an implement A 7500 lb GVW sounds lie overkill. Opinions are like belly buttons - everybody"s got one.

Comments respectfully taken. Do not dis-agree at all.

But as Jim-OH also kinda point out. Round here in OH I have not seen any new trailes made with anything less than a 3500# axle (in the tandem class). Thus the 7000 lbs recomendation was more for the tandem axle configuration.

Also, as a mechanical engineer I like lotsa margin and do not like to fly in those corner points. :-)
