I've been looking for a crankshaft pulley for my TO-20 that will connect to a shreave/shaft for a front pump. Have an order in w/Walt's for a pulley with 4 holes and the companion sheave, shaft and flex couple, but the pulley has been/still is backorder with no idea when it may arrive. So --- is it possible to take an OEM crankshaft pulley, weld shut the holes between the "spokes", then drill 4 holes to fasten the shreave? Or are there any other options to get my loader operational? Would using the rear hydraulics power both the loader and buck (4 cylinders)? Thanks, Dan

Dan, other places do sell that pulley. You may be suprised to find you can also get it from a Ford or Massey dealer... not 100% sure on that, but I"ll bet they can, talk to the oldtimer drinking coffee, not the newbie kid behind the counter that only knows how to look up new parts for new tractors. A good welder can probably weld-up , or weld a plate onto the orginal pulley, but the original pulley is cast iron, it"s not a "routine" job, a good welder that knows how to weld cast can probably do it. Try to maintain some balance on the pulley if you do that.
You can use the hydros from your internal belly pump, but it will be slow with only ~5 GPM flow, and will have power lift only & have to be gravity drop. That was pretty common back in the day. Another option would be to get a PTO hydro pump, they are pricey, but just slide on the PTO shaft and you will have plenty of hydro flow & pressure. I made a PTO pump for my back hoe using a run of the mill surplus hydro pump with a PTO sleeve to slide on the PTO shaft, and a chain to tie it down so the pump don"t turn. Get as big a pump as you can because mort those pumps are rated to run @ 1700 RPM, your PTO will only go ~500 at nearly full throttle so your flow will be less than the pump rating.

Maybe I could get a n-series pulley bored and/or bushed if the cranks are different size. Thanks for the other ideas too.

John - I was pretty excited when saw the right pulley on their site. But it's backordered to with no forecasted delivery date. But surely I'll need something else from this site eventually. Thanks! Dan
