TEA20 woes....

I rewired the electrical system replacing all the wires with 10ga. wires before i did this i studied and took notes of all of the connections. keep in mind this is a neg. earth system. in the process i installed a new control box and new on/off switch. the tractor still does not run nor even start (no spark) now, as far as i understand, there are four connections on the control box, they are labeled F A E D there are two connections on the generator labeled F and D. I connected the F to the F and the D to the D. this leaves A and E to connect to the tractor. if I did this correct, A goes to the cellanoid side post and E goes to a solid ground ( in which I attached it to the block along with the batt. neg. line. when I attempt to start it the motor turns over like a champ but there is no spark. i even installed the older coil thinking the new coil (both 12v) was faulting. My question is what does the starter cellanoid do beside sending juice to the starter because it seems to have all of the pos. lines connecting to it besides the line from the on/off switch which runs directly to the coil after coming off the cellanoid as well.

You state "keep in mind this is a neg. earth system" Did you change something? The TEA-20, as manufactured, is a Positive to ground (earth) system.

You are correct on the wiring.

E- goes to ground.
F- to F on Gen. (Field)
D- to D Gen (Armiture or A in US terms)

A should go to the Battery side of the starter switch not the solonoid.

If the tractor remains a 6V generator systems similar to manufacture I think there are some items backwards. Review the wiring diagram and see if that helps.

ok i see the error, originally the second wire of the on/off switch was connected to the batt side of the starter. so im guessing if A goes to the batt side of the starter, then the on/off switch is then connected to the coil and the solonoid? p.s. unfortunately i couldnt open that attatchment of the diagram due to not having word. thanks again though!

Corey you must have a non OEM starting system because to the best of my knowledge, the TE and TEA"s used the transmission lever actuated safety starter switch located in the bell housing. You primary ignition circuit, the one that goes to the coil and then to the distributor, should be on the wire from the battery that goes to one side of the key switch. The other side of the key switch should go to the battery. Your key switch opens and closes that circuit. As the other poster indicates, the wiring diagram for the OEM system for your tractor is on the FENA website. Maybe it can help you fix the wiring on your tractor.
