Has anyone successfully ran new wire through the tubing running along oil pan to the front headlights?
On my "worker" 35, I didn't mind bypassing--on my new 30, I'd like to maintain the vintage look.
Actually considering bending brake line and making new tube along engine--when I tried to pull old wire from worker 35, it just broke off flush with end, now I have nothing to grab.
On my 30, it is very thin at the beginning and end of tube, otherwise I would consider crimping a connection and leaving old stuff in tube.
One of you fellas has to have tackled this one.
Thanks, Mark

Is there a source for the fabric covered wire that was on the orig?

The tubing running along the oil pan was actually in 3 pieces to help in the installation at the dealer as the tubes were already bent in the light kit. This is the reason you will see the two clips in the pan that hold the tubing are split or have slots in them as this is where the tubes come together and space is need to accomodate the ferrules on the tube ends.

I installed the wire in the steel tube and then bent the tubing to fit as others have stated, but to do it per the original you can use 3 pieces.

Mark,

I ran a new wire through a new break line first. Then I bent the tube to fit around the Timing chain cover and bent at the rear of the engine this.

The new tube looks great.

You may want to get a compy of FENA's Ferguson Furrows issue #9. It covered the lights and wire routing on the Fergusons in detail.

Thanks, Jeff,
Thats is exactly what I had envisioned.
I also thought how cool it would look if I had a show Fergy, to make the tube out of copper and shine it all up on the buffing wheel.
Did you use the mounting tabs and bolt it to the oil pan, etc., like originally?
I bet it looks sharp.
I finally (successfully) bent two fuel line tubes coming from sediment bulb across and down to top of carb. Pretty darn near as original.
Yes, it was a royal pain the fanny.
Does look sharp.

Mark,
I don't have the original tube with wire on my 30 so I plan on bending new brake line. I hope to get to it today or tomorrow. I will let you know how it goes. Also, what is the original diameter of the tubing? I was going to go with 3/16"

Is there any way to run a larger wire or rod through the tube to ream out old wire.
