TO-35 Change to Power Steering ?

Greeting, I just got a Massey Ferguson TO-35 #200077, with a nice 102 loader, but I can hardly move the steering wheel. No power steering. Has anyone changed a tractor like this to powersteering ?
Advice, suggestions--no insurance so I can't burn it !

Ron, Hello, I have a 35 with a wagner loader on it.No power steering It always steered good and i found out why by accident. I bought tie rod ends for it, and before i put them on i checked the tow in and it was set 5/8 in towed out in the front. I changed the ends and set to 1/8 towed in.( Ferguson spec.)and it was almost impossable to steer. I put it back to5/8 out and it steered good as ever. I put a belly mower on it and mow 4 acres with it all summer with the loader on it. Mine has been set thst way for 20 years or more, It doesn't seem to wear the tires ( same ones) and you cant notice it to look at it.-ed

Ron:

Yes, you can add PS to your TO-35 but it is an expensive proposition.

The options are an aftermarket kit from someone like Jackson Power Steering or attempting to find a changeover kit that is decent enough to use. The going rate for either is over $1000.

These tractors usually steer quite easily unless you have a FEL. Are you sure that there is not something wrong with your steering gear and/or spindle bushings?

Will check toe in/out.
Don't know what FEL is.
Will jack up front end and see how it goes with no weight on it.
The bucket and loader parts along probably weigh 500--700 pounds with nothing in the loader.

How about replaceing MF non-powere steerging parts with power steering parts ?
Sas on "Big Dean's" MF site, that idea---though when I asked him about it , he never did it.

Sorry, Ron.

FEL means front end loader. It sounds like you have one.

Changing your tractor to PS with MF parts will be an expensive and likely unsatisfactory option.

Most of the used PS systems for these tractors are worn out and most of the parts are no longer serviced by MF.

An aftermarket system by jackonpowersteering.com might be an option but these systems are not designed for loaders and may interfere with yours.

My experience has been that it is usually easier and more cost effective to simply sell one tractor and buy another with PS.
