You can't put a number on there as it would not be accurate. There is no way of finding out the serial number from the engine number, for one thing it may not be the original anyway. Blank plates are available, but these are for when you are restoring the tractor and you have the genuine number. There are more than one pattern of plate depending on when the tractor was produced....John

You need to know the correct plate that you need for the time your tractor was produced. The original one was a brass plate and for Harry Ferguson Ltd, then came an alloy plate for Harry Ferguson Ltd. Than there was an alloy plate for Massey-Harris-Ferguson Ltd. You can try Dunlop Hydraulics:-http://www.rjdunlop.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/contact1.htm or you can try these as well:-

the first one calls them a commission plate, the second one calls them a serial number plate. only the very early TE20's had the brass plate then it changed to the alloy Harry Ferguson type until 1954 then it changed to MHF. Hope all that helps, if you have problems just email me...John

G"Day Bob,
Whereabouts in England are those plates available? Mine is unreadable and I would like to replace it when I get around to restoring the old girl.
Regards,
Dave.

The replacement ID plates are available in the UK for around 10 pounds.

The engines were not used in engine number sequence. There is no way to work out the Ser No if the ID plate is missing.

You can estimate the production date from the date cast vertically into the right side of the diff housing, between the gear box flange and right side "port hole" cover. "6 7 3" is cast into my tractor, indicating a casting date of 6 July 1953. The tractor manufacture date will be a few weeks later.
