Single mouldboard plough

Went to a local clearance sale last Saturday and ended up buying a single mouldboard plough in good condition .($60 I convinced my wife it was a great bargain) After getting it home i decided to give it a whirl in one of my small paddocks....now I did manage to get it to work OK but i can't help but feel there must be some right way to tackle this task...you know... do you start in a clockwise or anti-clockwise way.What are the do's and dont's of using a mouldboard plough?

Best thing for the soil is NEVER turn the sod. The soil structure and microbes have taken years to establish. Turn the sod, all is disturbed and the process has to start again. If you need to cultivate only scratch, don't turn.
