PRESSURE WASHER/ SANDBLASTER

Folks,

I am not really pleased with the thought of sandblasting because of the dusts/risks. I have heard that there are attachments for a pressure washer so you can sandblast wet with them. Have you all ever tried this? DOes it work? Where can you get one?

Frank, i got my wetblaster from a local Lowes store, (building supplies for yuppies). My washer is 2000psi and i am not happy with its performence as a wetblaster. i have been told it works great at 3500psi. i glass bead blast anything that will go into my cabinet. following advice given on this board, i am backing back from blasting tractor. i'm going the stripper method.

Hi Frank

Sandblasing whole tractor is not recomended
Or on other mechanics

Because pressurized sand will be introduced in bearings shafts engine and all openings and will sand all moving parts in the future causing premature worn.

You may remove wheels fenders and hood and sandblast and paint separate and away from the tractor.

What is the best way to do the transmission housing, etc before painting? Will a wirebrush on a drill do it?

I brushed paint stripper on mine, brushed it with a wire brush then power washed it before the stripper dried. Two times like this gave bare iron, ready for primer

Hi Frank

If a pressure washer is available you can put standard engine washing soap this will remove grease dirt and paint chips. When dry you can use sandpaper disc on a drill or buffer.

I wet sand blaster mine about 6yr ago and I have yet to have any problem with sand .
You need a pressure washer that is 2000psi or better.you can get the sandblaster for pressure washer out of the nothern catloge
