Pinned blocks

For everyone who is interested in the pinned Z129 block that I have: A machinist that has "pinned many a Ferguson block in my day" told me that the position of the pins is dependant on the location and severity of the cracks - top, bottom or both. He said that he uses 3/8 or 5/16 rod to pull the carcks together. He also requires a new set of sleeves to be supplied with the bare block (no crank or head). He also said that he may have pinned the block that I have but he had "pinned so many that he couldn't remember". He still pins blocks but we didn't get into a price. If anyone wants more information, send me an e-mail and put you in touch with him. He lives in Louisiana.
