Its me again... When I had recently acquired my tractor I was under in the influence that it was a TO-30 and now since I have found this sight I have been informed that it is in deed not, but it is a TO-20 instead.. Well when I first thought that it was a 30 I changed the oil and the oil filter... I since then have bought the owners manual and the shop manual for this tractor off of ebay.. Well while reading these books tonight I noticed that the shop manuals says that the oil filters for the TO-20 and TO-30 models are not interchangeable... I bought the one oil filter when I thought it was a TO-30 model at NAPA, but when I ask them for an oil filter for a TO-20 they tell me that they do not have a listing for it.. What do I do??? Can I use the one for the TO-30 or not, the book says "that if the oil filters are interchanged in the engines, the relative flow of oil will be reversed and plugging will occur" I don"t even know what they mean when the say "plugging".. What do I do??? Any HELP would be greatly appreciated...

gshadel said: (quoted from post at 18:48:52 08/20/07) Keith, NAPA has filters for the TO-20, you probably just got the lazy/dumb guy at the counter. The NAPA number is 1107. NAPA also sells WIX filters, the WIX # is 51107. The FRAM # is C153.

I called our local NAPA store again and then they told me they could get it but they told me that the NAPA # was 1090 model... I wonder why the two NAPA #'s would be different???

The two filters are designed for flow from different directions (the TO-30 flows from the outside o the center and then back to the crackcase and the TO/TE20 filter flows from the center outward) so they are not interchangeable. Just get the TO-20 filter and install it.

These are partial flow filters so if it plugs you won't lose your oil supply. It just won't filter. Read your shop manual and see how the lube system works to satisfy yourself that you won't destroy your engine with this mistake.

This site has the correct filter and if you do a search in the archives you'll find a bunch of different filter manuafacturer's part numbers for equivalent filters. As k NAPA if they havea part listed for the TE-20. It's the same filter as the TO-20.
