Oil pressure gauge

My 1954 tea-20 has an oil gauge and a temperature gauge fitted but not connected.I can,t see where they link up to the block.The temperature gauge has a sender on the end of a long wire ,but I cannot see where it would have been connected. The oil pressure gauge has just a small tube on the end of it and no sender.
I purchase the tractor about 4 years ago and the engine had been reconditioned and i have been meaning to get the gauges reconnected.
Have had a look in my manual but can,t seem to find exactly where they are supposed to go on the block.
any help appreciated.

Sorry about the thread drift, but I recall seeing fergies painted yellow and used by local roading authorities here in New Zealand. They were fitted with a rotating sweeper run off the PTO. They used them to sweep up excess gravel after tar sealing roads.

Bob, you are not a Fergie expert or mechanic? I'm shocked, really you should give yourself more credit. By the way, in a previous post you mentioned you own a Toyota Land Cruiser. What year is it, and what engine does it have, if you don't mind my asking? Here in the states, the vehicle that is called a "Land Cruiser" is a leather upholstered penthouse on wheels suitable for trekking through the hazardous, wild terrain of the country club parking lot.

Toyota Land Cruisers come in all flavours, from totally agricultural to a tarmac cowboys ride... We have the Land Cruiser here, comes in 6 cylinder diesel or gas guzzling V8 gasoline.

I drive around 45,000 miles per annum in the Aussie Outback and just picked up my third new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado in five years. This one is a 3 liter turbo, inter-cooled diesel - probably the hottest selling 4WD in Australia. The Prado is an 8 seat "baby" Toyota Landcruiser, don't think they are available in the USA?

For a diesel they go well - had 165 KPH/100 MPH out of it at 3,000 RPM and it was still accelerating! And with 180 liters of fuel (in two tanks) I have over 1,000 mile range.

Private hack is a Jag I recently acquired.....

Shares the shed with the TEA20 Fergy and, like the Fergy, only comes out on fine weather Sundays! LOL

Thanks for the lovely pictures and info. The diesel engine is an option I wish we could had in the states in more vehicles. If fuel prices continue their upward trend, which they almost certainly will, I think more diesels will be offered. Land Cruisers are only offered in pricey, luxurious form here in the states. The temperature gauge fits into the thermostat housing on the front of the Cylinder head, depending on the age of your tractor it may not have any provision for fitting one. If it does have provision it will be on the left side just below the bottom line of the Fuel Tank.
The oil pressure gauge does not have a sender, it should have a "banjo" fitting on the end of the gauge pipe, this attaches to the Engine Block below the Starter, you will see the raised oil gallery and possibly a plug in the hole...John

I'm not sure about the TEA's but on the TO's the temperature measurement was made using a capillary tube thermometer and it's sensing bulb sat in the "gooseneck" that ran from the top of the cylinder head to near the upper rad connection. There is a tapped hole and boss on the "goosneck" with a plug in it. You remove the plug and put the sensing bulb in the hole and close it with a fitting on the capillary tube.

The oil pressure measurement on these old machines used a Bourdon gauge with a small line that ran into a fitting on the block that was tapped into an oil gallery. Oil pressure acted directy on the gauge. It's a mechanical gauge so it has no electrical sensor.

A regular contributor to this form, John(UK) can probably help you in locating the oil pressure sensing tapping as he is very familiar with the Standard motor and the TEA's.

Don. I take it you are from the Great Land Downunder? If so, welcome to our small group of Aussies that inhabit this wonderful forum.

Your TEA came standard with a white face oil pressure guage only in the right hand side of the panel, the left hand hole being blanked off.

The oil pressure guage line screws into the block above the starter motor, via a banjo fitting.

The water pressure guage sender screws into the side of the water outlet casting/thermostat housing on the front of the head.

Bob,Yes I am in Australia Canowindra central west nsw.
My fergie is i am ashamed to say painted caterpillar yellow (as it was when i purchased it..so i am pleading not guilty)and it has a green stripe on the bonnet.I do have the grey paint to paint it and will get around to it one day...you know how it is.

I'm at Roma, central western Queensland where tractors are also green and yellow - but are very big, have eight wheels or tracks and pack at least 500 HP diesels.
