Seized yoke - TO-20

The yoke on my lift spring control plunger is seized and I am unable to adjust it. I have the top cover removed from the tractor and been soaking it in penerating oil for 2 days. Is it possible to seperate the plunger from the top cover assembly without first removing the yoke? I am considering cutting the plunger in half with a hacksaw to be able to get better access to heat the yoke for removal and then welding it back together. I would appreciate help from anyone who has had this problem.

You can't cut and weld like you think as the adjustment won't work out correctly. You need to replace the Plunger rod and the Yoke end. These parts are available under the following numbers:- 79024596V Plunger Rod, from an MF dealer and the Yoke end is a Sparex part S60586, you may find your MF dealer can supply the Sparex part number if not email sparex@sparexusa and ask for the nearest dealer to your location. I have the same problem with my TO-30. I have the yoke and plunger in the vise now soaking with penetrating oil. I May cut off the triangular cover plate, slide off the spring so I can get a good grip on the plunger shaft. Then I might be able to twist/screw off the yoke.

I got the yoke and plunger seperated now. With one end in the vise and a long 3 foot long rod thru the yoke, some pressure finally made it start popping. A few times with reverse pressure and then forward pressure, it screwed off. Now I find that the plunger is really not useable and looking for a new one. The yoke seems OK. Will Ford 9N/8N lift plunger fit? Seems that there are some of those available. Also, is the 9N/8N gasket kits for the hydrauling chamber the same?
