Does anyone know what the small light by the air intake on the dash of a TE20 display? My one does not work and never has. There appear to be several thick wires running into it however so I was wondering if it indicates anything of importance?, is it worth replacing?, thanks.

Mike,
My appology. Joe Ferguson is correct. I have my ignition system modified and I am using the light as an indicator lamp. Told you I was a dummy.
Sorry to mislead you.
Thanks Mr. Ferguson.
Good luck,
Joe

Hi mike

This is the charging indicator same as in
car dash board.

This light indicated if the generator is charging
or not. Assuming that tractor is in original state
with a generator.

When you put ingnition switch on...it glow
when engine is running it is not supposed to glow.
it is normal that it glow a idle RPM because the generator is not turning fast enough
to charge.

Good luck

Mike,
The light gives you an indication that the key is in the on position. I replaced mine because I'm a dummy and it helps remind me to turn it to the on position when I keep crank'n and crank"n and she don't start. I picked up a 12volt neon lamp (available in 6volt too) from radio shack and replaced the whole unit because like yours it was missing and had corroded badly. It's a sealed unit and good for thousands of hours so it should outlast me. The wires can be wire nutted together instead of going to a screw terminal.
Good luck,
Joe
