I have the old rear axle leak problem on my TEA28. Seem to recall some one using things called "sure seals" to solve this problem rather than doing it the way they did originally. Does anyone have any comments or part numbers for these products?

TEA 28 is a term that seems to be used frequently here in New Zealand. Ferguson tractors here are known as TEA 20, 24, 28 and 35, the numerals being the horse power. Interestingly, a lot the 28 hp tractors here were red and grey from new.Our Fergies all had either the Standard petrol or Perkins diesel engines. As a boy growing up in an orcharding area here we had a Ford 5000, David Brown 770,a Fiat,a Lamborghini and a little grey fergie fitted with a grader blade on our orchard. My job after school one day a week was to grade our gravel drive with the Fergie. The other days after school I worked at the local Massey Ferguson dealer as a workshop hand. Old fergies nowdays in New Zealand serve as boat tractors. We have three golden anniverseries in my immediate area and 9 TEAs within a 250 metre radius of my beach house. Thanks for everyone's advise on the seals.

When you get the seals(part # John has already described) The container will say SS92. and they will take about a hundred times more the force than you would expect to install a seal. Upside is THEY WORK!!!!..The tea28 your probably getting from the te2085 written on a lot of tea20's over here. I think thats an american thing. No offense John but that nominclature does exist this side of the pond. Darned if I know what it means though. Dont forget to block up the seal area when installing. Just did em so I to could help if needs be dougl(at)nrtco.net

Don't know where the TEA28 comes from, I presume you mean a TEA20. There are two types of axles fitted to these tractors, the early one will accept the "Sure Seals" the later ones after serial 325,000 already has two seals fitted. You can tell which is the early one, just look at the flange where the axle housing trumpet attaches to the diff. housing, if the studs are equally spaced all round then it is an early one, if there are a lot more studs near the bottom then it is the later one. The "Sure Seals" can be obtained from this site (YT) or from a Sparex dealer as Sparex part S61512. The instructions come with them but the axle does require shimming correctly. If you need more info about all this, email me at:- fergusontractors(at)tiscali.co.uk and tell me what you need.....John

It's simply called a sure-seal and it's the same one they use one the n-series fords. I put one on my TO-20. I'm not sure if it'll work on a TE though...
