TO 30 axle repair and compression test.

Thanks to all who helped with their comments/suggestions on the above repairs. As soon as work settles down, I will pull axles and work up a repair parts list. I noticed now the pto seal is leaking a little, so will catch that when I redo the axle seals. I have noticed the other tractors have smooth hoods. Mine has a raised hole for gas and radiator cap. My hood is also missing the two catches for the hold down, which the fingers go into. Does anyone have a picture of these catches,so I could fabricate some replacements? You guys are great, thanks again, Jim.

George and Jerry, The leaks seem indicative of a hard life.The radiator has a top tank that extends toward the gas tank, not like any TO30 I have seen. This one has the red hood and fenders and grey castings...maybe I will paint the castings red,hood and fenders grey and call it a 8N. An older buddy of mine thinks the openings are for a loader application which prevented the hood from opening. It has the Ferguson emblem on front and the holes for the side emblems. like war wounds,it adds character. Thanks for the comments, Jim.

Jim, ....leaky axle seals, leaky PTO seal, holes in the hood.... are you sure you don't have a Ford instead of a Fergy????

You may have a Ford hood or at least a hood from another tractor.. The TO-30 didn't have any holes in it. It tips up for access to the gas and the radiator cap. That's probably why you don't have any latches.
