MF 35 hydraulic lift problem

My MF 35 hydraulic usually lifts OK when on first start up but then will lift a short distance fairly normally but then just creeps up so slowly you can barely see it moving. Occasionaly it has just jerked at the lowest level. Now, even when it raises slowly it stops before taking up the full weight of the implement. Someone has suggested a blocked hydraulic filter. Is this likely and how do I access it to clean it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Keith:

Most (US) MF-35s do not have hydraulic inlet screens but the latest ones do as do some that have had replacement pumps installed. I had a 61 FE-35 with a screen and a comtempory 61 MF-35 Deluxe without.

In any event, you can see if it has one by removing the left side inspection cover. If you find one, it can be removed and cleaned through the cover with patience and care.

Dean, Thanks for your reply. Do you think my problem could be caused by a blocked filter, assuming I have one. Regards Keith

Keith:

Assuming that your tractor does have a pump inlet screen, your symptoms could be caused by blockage if it. Of course other problems can cause similar symptoms.

Since it is a simple job to check to see if a screen is present, I suggest you look to see. If it does and it is clogged, I suggest that you not only clean the screen but also clean the sump and fill with new oil.
