I have a 1951 TO20 and was wondering if the universal temp gauges like you see at auto stores will have the right fittings to work on my tractor. thanks for any replys

Definitely go with one made for a tractor.
Hint: if there is no hole in dash, and you do not want to cut one, they make little metal guage holders with one or two holes for mounting the guages. they usually come with a 90 degree bent tab which can be mounted in several locations under dash or side of steering console. Doesn't look too bad, and keeps dash original. Mark

Rob, don't get one of those universal jobs from the auto parts store. One of the fittings in the bag may fit your TO-20, but the capillary tubing will be wayyyy toooo loooong for your TO-20, and you will have to figure out a way to carefully coil it up so it isn't hanging all over the place and not kink the tubing.

Go to a TSC, or Farm & Fleet type place, or a Fergy, or Ford tractor dealer, and get yourself a temp. gauge for a Fergy, or a Ford N - Jubilee - NAA - 600 (all the same gauge). It will screw right in to the plugged port on the side of your coolant manifold, and the tubing length is just right.... maybe $25. Hopefully you have a hole in your dash already.... I had to cut a hole with a hole saw... they made those Fergy dashes with HEAVY gauge steel back then... thought I would never get through it.

George

Robert, Not sure on the TO20 but I purchased a standard unit from tractor supply for my 55' TO35 and all is well. John
