If whoever felt the need to tattletail about the last post and have it removed could please be big about not doing it this time. How does a sure seal go on when their manufactured with a .010" + interference? That is IMPOSSIBLE with a surface that large a dia

I stand corrected. The tech at tisco looked up the data.The desired interference is .021"..... .Too much, way too much. When you smash a number that big together you just dont know where the .021 went. Did it end up perfectly centered? I doubt it.Anyone ever still have some leakage after sure sealing?

Charger,
I don't know about the dimensions, but I can tell you there are a LOT of satisfied sure seal users out there. They are a common repair practice for leaky TO-20 and 9N axle seals.
I have used them myself... I have a web page relating my experience. Check it out.

Set the axle hub down on a piece on plywood and use a piece of 3" pvc drain pipe (I think its 3"--I'm going from memory from last year) thats a few inches longer than the axle for the driver. It fits perfect. Put a cover on the top of it and tap the seal in GENTLY with a rubber hammer. Make sure that its VERY straight when you start it in. It works like a charm. It's good to have a helper for this. Four eyes are better than two. Also, make sure you use the original straight end of the pipe on the seal if you don't have the means to lathe a sawed end straight. Good luck, you'll get it.

Charg..., I didn't see your other post, so... don't know what it said. Your question seems quite legit. to me.

The sure seal is fairly thin sheet metal, so it conforms the the ID of the hub. The sure seal is a friction fit only, so it's got to be tight. I would think anything less than oversized interference fit would just turn out of the hub while your driv'in down the road. I recall the TO20/30 exhaust valve seats are +.osomething interference fit also.

It does. It kinda 'crushes' into the hub. I f you don't get it square to the hub, you can bugger it up. Use a press.
