TO-20 Draining Hydraulic Fluid

I need to to know what I should clean and drain on my hydraulic system for my 1948 TO-20. I want to be sure I am pulling the right drain plugs and cleaning what I should be cleaning. If anyone has picutures they can send me, I'd appreciate it.

P.S. The reason I have to drain the hydraulic fluid is it was under 3 feet of water due to flooding. I have been able to get it the tractor running, but want to be sure to get the hydraulic system clean before I engage it. Thanks

There are three drain plugs on this tractor,one underneath directly below the transmission lever, a large one directly below the seat and finally there is one set in the centre of four setscrews used to fasten a drawbar, under the rear axle.
It takes 6.6 US gallons, no more no less, just pour this amount into the filler which is to the left if the transmission lever and that is it, you can check after an hour or so as it takes a while to level out. You asked about cleaning it out, if you can locate that posting from Jeff OH it fully explains how he does it in great detail. But reading your post here I don't think that you want to clean it out you just want to get the water out of it which is a different thing. You need to pour in a few gallons of diesel that will take the water with it when you drain it out. Drain it from the transmission part on level ground, and then if you can, lift the front of the tractor about a foot it will allow anything inside to drain towards the back,you then drain the large plug under the Pump and the smaller one under the axle. If you then put a few gallons of oil in it and drain that out, it should take any remnants of the diesel with it. You can now fill the transmission properly. I let the diesel fuel soak while I was on vacation, drained the system, filled back up and wow! I can't believe how big of a difference it makes. I can't hardly keep the 5' brush hog on the ground now. Actually the control is great and the system is humming along. Thinking of adding the Genesee electronic conversion kit next.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I found everythings and have the diesel fuel in the system right now soaking up the water and hopefully getting it fairly clean.

As Jerry says, look for Jeff's writeup. Briefly, there are three drain plugs, and as for identifying them you really can't go wrong, as the only other drain is the oil pan. Also you will want to drain overnight, or several hours. It holds six gallons of GL-1 gear oil (if you get all the old stuff out).
