Hello all,
I just posted a picture of my TE20 under 1948 Ferguson TE20. After 4 months of blood, guts, wrenchin, scrapin etc, its pretty much done. Thanks to all for the help getting me through the mechanicals, etc. Without the assistance, I wouldn't have had enough guts to jump into it as far as I did. She's back together and running well

I have recently purchased a Massey Ferguson tractor. I was told it was a TO20. But upon looking at the tag in front of the steering wheel I noticed the serial # is TE 39216. Do you have any idea what the exact make, model and year this tractor is.

Thanks

Tom: Great job! When you were prepping the sheetmetal for paint work, etc. did you bump out the dents and fill them with filler (bondo) as would be the case for an automobile? I guess what am curious about is there a convention to leave dents, or not fill them, etc. when it comes to old tractor restoration? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, David

What is your plan regarding front and rear lights?

Thanks for the kind comment. My feeling on the dents is that its up to the person on how far they want to take it. I personnally call them "character flaws" instead of dents. After 50 years or so everyone/thing has a few well deserved dents in their character. I didn't pound much out unless they're fairly large. The grill was caved in and I had to beat the h... out of it to make it fit again and maybe a couple on the fenders. Bondo and I don't get along very well - I tend to make things worse than better.
I'm not a restorer. If its better than when you started, then you done good, is my way of thinking.
On the lights, haven't got there yet. If I keep it
I'll put them on - just enjoying driving around the neighbor hood right now.

Tom: I appreciate your attitude and view on the restoration process. I imagine many feel as you do. I asked about lights, as I have become interested for my TO-20. I have the front ones, but need to find suitable ones for the rear lights (one red and one worklight, I think). Thanks, David

Bill,
Thanks.
I really don't know if they're original or not.
They were on the tractor when I bought it. I kind of doubt that they are but don't have anything to base it on. I just know they're a lot better than just foot pegs.

My 1950 TO-20 has running boards also. I wonder if it could be an option?
