I am trying to figure out an unusual hitch on a MF sickel mower thats coming up in an auction. The id plate is unreadable, I think its a 30 or 31. Thats not my real problem however. It has a hitch I have never seen before. Its a Dyna Balance mower that appears to hitch to brackets under the axle trumpets. Being unfamilar with the hitch its hard to tell if its complete. Any help, especially a picture would be much appreciated. [No picture available]

there is an attachment that hooks to your lift arms and to your 3pnt. than you have to bars that come out from the sickle mower that go to your brackets underneath your fenders.but you will need special bolts that replace the pins. one is longer than the other because that one get the stayarm. and then theres a tapperd nut that goes on to tighten the arms. these bolts are not cheap at least 12 dollars per nut and 20 some dollars for the bolt. massey dealers do have them. i know all this because we have to of them and are in the process of fixing them fun to do.

Catskil Pete:
Sounds like it might be a quick attach hitch setup. I have pics of one in my sickle bar owners manual. It attaches under the tractor and has tube-like sleeves under the axel trumpets that two prong-like fixtures on the mower slide into and lock in place. I can send the pics if you provide an e-mail addy.

Thanks for the pictures I appreciate them, However that is the IH fasthich system, I am very familar with that system. The Ferguson that I am looking at is very different. But I do appreciate the effort. Did MF have IH fasthitch options?

I realize the pics are for the IH tractor but I thought MF may have had a similar quick hitch system, operating off the lift arms.

Hi Catskill Pete I dont have a pic of one but I sure know about them. My dad bought one in 1958 and at 14 yrs old I sure had a bear of time getting it on and off the tractor. It does hitch under the rear axels to a plate about the same as you hitch stabilzers bars on to keep a brushmower from swinging from side to side. Its a pretty solid rig once you get it on the tractor. If it has the rig still on it to hitch your lift arms to and the pto you should be all set.Id be interested in what it goes for if you wouldnt mind sharing it with me. I have heard that they go anywhere from $700 to $1000. I would love to find one. They are getting really scarce. The only problem we had with ours was that we had problems keeping the pitmon head from breaking off the sickle bar. Good luck hope you get it. Lester

Ah ha, someone has actually seen one. The lifting rig you mentioned may be the biggest source of confusion. There is a "bracket" with it we think, assuming it does go with the mower. I think I can picture how it might slip over a lift arm but it has a about 3 lift pins on it that don't seem to match anything else I can see. Thats why a pictue or drawing would be helpful. The sale is Sat. I will let you know what it went for.
