I would like to know what the difference between a TE-30 and a TO-30 tractor is. I am looking for an operators manual for a 1954 TE-30. Help

The TE-20 and TO-20 with Continental engine Z120 (120 cubic inches displacement)have 25 PTO HP
The TEA20-80 with its Standard engine, 80 mm bore and 113 CID has approximately 24 PTO HP
The TO-30, US made, has a 129 CID Continental engine and has 29 PTO HP
The TEA20-85, Standard engine has 28 PTO HP, 85 mm bore and 127 CID,
Then, some call them TE-25 because they are in between model 20 and 30, but this designation is not official.

Im sure the Te 30 used a standard engin the ones I have seen have a timing chain and not gears like the To 30 also I dont think the rear end is the same

Ain't no such thing as a TE-30. There are TE-20's ( Continental Z120 engines)and TEA-20's (Standard Motors(UK) engines)but there is only one TO-30. The TO-30 came with the Continental Z129 engine and the serial numbers range from TO-60001 to TO-140000. They were made between 1951 and 1954.

Ford Ferguson`s were made from 1939-47.Ferguson Model TE20 1947-51Ferguson Model TE 20-85 1951-53Ferguson Model TE 30 1950-54Ferguson Model TO 20 1948-51Ferguson Model TO 30 1951-54Ferguson Model TO 35 1954-59. This is the findings on the Harry Ferguson site and the serial no. on my tractor is TEA397087, which by all the information that I can find makes it a TE-30. Maybe the only difference is the motor. Maybe the TO-30 manual would be all right.

You need a manual for a TEA20 tractor and it has an 85mm Standard Motors engine. It was made in the last week of June 1954, thats as near as I can get it due to missing serial numbers. As you have been advised there is no such thing as a TE30 they were all TE20 series from the UK, the differences between the models i.e. engines, track width, was indicated by a third letter in your case it is "A" which means it is a standard width fitted with a Petrol Engine. In some markets they sold it as a 20/85 They advertised the TO30 in the USA as the Ferguson 30 when it was introduced.

David. Your tractor, Ser No TEA397087 is a 1954 Ferguson TEA20-85, probably around mid year. (1954: Ser No 367999-428092). If you look on the right side of the diff housing, between the gear box flange and the "port hole" with dip stick, you will find the casting date.

My TEA20 has 6 7 3 = casting date 6 July 1953.

The tractor manufacture date is probably a couple of weeks later.

I too own a TEA20-85, 1953 Ser No TEA341439, engine no SC52793E. The engine number is on the left side between the distributor and coil.

Harry Ferguson Ltd, Coventry, never built a "TE30" to my knowledge. All tractors after the TE20 series were Massey Ferguson.

I think that someone is erroneously calling the TEA-20-85 a TE-30. If you go to www.fergusonenthusiasts.com and click on Serial Numbers, I believe you will find your tractor listed as a TEA-20-85. You'll need to get a TEA operators manual becuase the TO series manuals only address tractors with Continental Engines and the TEA's had Coventry built Standard Motors engines.
