Hi, we have just bought a 1953? diesel fergie that has sat in a barn for many years but have a few questions and are hoping someone can answer them.
What spanners should I use, AF or what?
What thread are the (missing) bolts that hold down the plate on top of the gearbox/steering housing?
This tractor is now siezed from sitting so long, and was never a good starter so was going to fit new pistons/liners but was also interested in fitting glowplugs into the head whilst its off. Does anybody have any info on how this is done?
thanks

The bolts etc. are usually unf or unc threads and they are a/f spanners. The threads in the Gearbox casting are UNC.With you saying spanners I take it that you are in the UK and that you have a TEF Diesel. You can't fit glow plugs in a TEF they only fit in the FE35 with the 23c engine. The TEF is a good starter if the work is done properly, it has a manifold heater already and the Ki-Gass for easy starting and it also has the excess fuel button on the Injection Pump, and for really cold weather it has a De-Compressor too, so I don't think that you will ever need glow plugs in the Head. You have to know what you are doing with this engine, it isn't anything like a Ford 8, it's quite complicated and if you don't get the valves and Injection spot on it will not run properly at all.
If you want to discuss this more, email me at:- [email protected] just ask me what you need to know....John
