Having just split my TE20 in half in order to address the sticking clutch, I have a few queries. Firstly I am in need of a new clutch plate and have been informed that many modern cars use an identical plate, (Ford Granada?) can anyone confirm this or suggest a car that does use an identical plate? Secondly I believe that my thrust bearing has seized, but as I cannot rotate it, I'm not even sure if it is a bearing or simply a plane surface, but surely there has to be some form of bearing, correct?. Could anyone kindly confirm whether or not the TE20 is fitted with a thrust bearing and if so any ideas on where one can be acquired, many thanks.

Your TE20 has no bearing in the fly wheel if thats the one you're talking about. Providing nothing has been changed over the years.
It does have a throw out bearing.
On the sticking - check the splines on tranny shaft. They can get scarred and pitted over time.
Take emery cloth and smooth out.

Tom,
I have a 1948 TE-20 and it has a ball bearing pilot bearing that goes in the flywheel to support the end of the transmission. I might be able to find the number on it as I believe I changed it when I split the tractor in 1997 and redid the entire clutch.

Keith, where did you get the clutch parts from and what was the cost roughly of overhalling the clutch?

I've changed plates/bearings and the p/tvo plate is approx 9inch diameter. The diesel plate is I think bigger.
Your bearing sounds as though its seen better days.
