I am one happy guy this morning! My son and I went out to the shop with the intent of removing the backhoe from my baby and I thought, "Oh what the heck - let's see if she'll turn over". The engine seemd frozen and I put some ATF in the cylinders and let it sit. Tied a few times to get her to crank over all the way - no dice. This morning, I put a small bar on the flywheel and she was totally free! We put the starter back on and hooked a battery up and she whirls over just fine! Now, we need to get the fuel to the cylinders and I do believe that she'll live again! We hooked an electric fuel ump to the gas line ( I have the fuel tank off to allow easier access to things - it's less intimidating with the tank off ) but it seems that the carb is gummed up. I'll try tonight to pull the carb off and tear it down and clean it out,, we'll probably need a kit though - but you just never know with these old girls. They are pretty simple and not too fussy - give 'em spark and fuel and they'll usually go.
