This is the 8n motor I overhauled last year and used basically all new parts and a different motor's oil pump. Had oil pressure problems from the start and at 20 hours on the motor pulled it apart.

Had the block line bored etc and put it together last week and no oil pressure at all. I started it 5 times after priming the oil pump each time and ran probably 30 seconds each time and no oil, none. It would hardly dribble out of the rear dist fitting.

Pulled it apart this morning and found the front oil galley plug missing.I'm not sure if the Ferg's ahve this but the Fords do. I caught the rear one missing on assembly but missed the front. The machine shop must have pulled them and left them out when they line bored and cleaned the block. I thought I really took my time and checked and double checked everything..... .except the plug aparently

Thanks to the advice from the boards about starting the motor on oil rated for diesels (has some majic ingredient pulled from "gas" rated motor oil) I have no damage anywhere. I checked one main cap, 1 rod cap, and can see the sleeves and no scarring at all. I assembled this motor with oil as I thew out the assembly lube I used the first time as a way to rule out anything that could have led to scarring of the bearings. THis motor sat for about a week after assembly waiting to be started

If anyone else starts thier motor and gets no oil pressure STOP. As tempting as it is to keep trying you have to do the right thing and pull it back apart or plan on buying a lot of new parts again.

I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow for Shreveport and a little time in Dallas. I'll order gaskets today and reassemble when I get home. Maybe the "third time's a charm" thing will hold true
