Hello, Changed the oil pressure and temp gauges. I wondered what "normal" readings should be? I have not had to run her hot yet, the radiator fluid gets nice and warm so I suspect that the water pump is working just fine. The oil pressure goes to 20~25 on the gage. The tractor runs good and all seems well. Any comments are welcome.

Thanks for the feedback on the exhaust. I put the horizontal on as the only negative comments seemed to hinge on starting dried crop fires. Sincerely, John

Normal temperature should be the value the thermostat is rated at. Probably 180, maybe 160. If it doesn't ever get that hot, the thermostat is missing, stuck open, or opens too soon. If it gets hotter, the thermostat is stuck closed or the water pump isn't moving enough water. I've had all of the above happen to engines I was using.

You really need to get this info from the operator's manual or the Ferguson Shop Manual for your tractor but I'll venture an answer and if I'm wrong, someone will correct me.
I'm not that familiar with the TO-35/Continental Z134 engine but my best guess is that it's similar to the Z120/Z129 engines where the new or remanufactured oil pressure is between 25-30 psi at low idle (400rpm) with the engine at operating temperature. The minimum acceptable oil pressure is 15 psi with with theengine at operating temperature and low idle(400 rpm).My TO-30 maintains 27 psi hot and cold so I know the relief valve is working as it should be and the bearing clearances are normal. Your 20-25 psi sounds like a good, safe oil pressure level if it's measured at low idle with the engine at operating temperature.

hey john...been runnin' the horizontal exhaust on both fergies for years while cutting very dry tall grass. haven't started a fire yet (knock wood)
