Well, I've looked in the archives and have found several different paint options. Several have said that NAPA 10039 is the closest match to original. Others have used another NAPA shade. Others yet have used Rustoleum smoke gray. I looked at the rustoleum smoke gray today at Wallyworld and it looks quite a bit darker than the original gray on my tractor. The original color has a sort of bluish tint to it. My next places to look are TSC and Rural King. I want to use a combination of rattle can and brush. Are there any other close matches to original than what I've found discussed in the archives? Pics would be very helpful. The Ford light gray has a slight greenish tint and is not want I want to use either. I don't own a spray gun or a compressor big enough to run a decent one.

If you click on discussion forums on the left and click paint and bodywork, there is ALOT of neat info regarding painting--only problem, you may find yourself reading 'till late in the evening.
Tons of prep, cleaning, and tips about painting.

Here is the formula I used:
White: 168.2
Carbon Black: 266.0
Ochre: 277.7
Red Oxide: 287.5
Blue: 293.4
Acrylic Binder: 942.9

This is for a Ful-Cryl Acrylic from Carquest. One shot of this formulae and you don"t need clearcoat.

i painted my to20 with sherwin williams tower gray industrial enamel. as far as getting the color correct i found from my research that there is no correct ferguson gray. the articles i found stated that harry ferguson would go to many different paint manufacturers and see what kind of deal he could get on gray paint. therefore some fergusons were a darker gray and some were a lighter gray depending on when they were made.here is the paint i used.i also used PENETROL to treat rusted surfaces and make the paint flow and shine.

I can't help you with the paint, but I will be watching for the answers you receive. I too recently purchased a To 30, mine is red and silver. I will proably repaint correct colors in a year or so. I replied with an email the other day about the implements you are going to sell. I never received a reply so I don't know if you got it or not. I am interested in all the implements you are willing to part with. Just show me pics and give me prices and we will discuss things from there. I have family not far from you and need an excuse to visit.

RockyMo, I've had several emails on them including yours. I had planned on getting a pic or two of the plow before replying to them and I've been researching the market to be able to set a fair price (that is unless someone makes me an offer I just can't refuse in the meanwhile).

I tried some Rust Oleum Smoke Gray and thought it was too dark also. I used a can of De Rusto machinery gray and thought it was nearly an exact match. This is available at our loca True Value. I painted my 2n with DeRusto after the hardware store told me the local fire dept uses it for fire hydrants. I used hardener in it and its help up fine

I have two paint color descriptions for the TO30. Don�t know if this will help but�..

1946 to 1954 TO20/30 and implements prior 1955:
Ferguson Gray: DuPont 652; NAPA 10039; PPG 32676; SW 1337; Vapormatic VLB5195

TO20/TO30 Ferguson Gray:
Distributor: Semi flat black
Front and side hood emblem backgrounds: Ferguson Blue
Generator & starter: Ferguson Light Gray M1011
Ignition Switch Plate Background: Semi flat black
SN plate background: Ferguson Blue.
All other painted surfaces: Ferguson Light Gray M1011

Note: Front & side hood emblems on a few T030s had backgrounds with the letters, numbers and raised edges painted blue.

Don�t know how accurate that is, never seen a TO30 as we don�t have them in Australia.
