I am looking for solutions for repairing the cracks in my block between the sleeves in the lower section of the block where the o rings seal. the cracks are letting water into the oil pan.

I am still new to the Ferguson world, does anyone have pics of the method that drills the side of the block for tension rods? So far I have a good motor, but who can predict the future. I really enjoy this tractor and intend to keep it forever.

The tension rod method described in the lower post was the common fix in the '50's and '60's for this problem. they used 1/8" rods on a tractor that I had.

The modern fix is to have the block furnace brazed or exchange your existing block for one that has been furnace brazed. The process stress relieves the block and then it is align bored and that's all included in the cost.

The other alternative is to find a used, uncracked block. The costs are about the same.

I had a shop drill sides of block for (3) 3/8" rods. They run between cylinders. I then sealed washers on outside of block. These rods force cracks closed. Still need to use some form of sealer on both sides of crack. Some people call this "glassing" over cracks.
