I posted a message here a week or so ago about a crank that I had taken into a machine shop to be built up and it came back at .060.I have since decided to not pay for it and explore the new crankshaft arena, so my question is, has anyone had any bad experiences with a new crank? Are they as good as the old ones? Are there any better than any others? I have priced them and they are all around $500 without bearings, is this about right or is it too high a price?

I've had cranks for Fords done here and the first question from the machine shop is where are the bearings coming from. They won't touch it untill we know about bearings. .060 seems rather much, the Fords stop at .040 under

The shop went by the book which says the maximum is .060 under but they didnt check to see if the bearings were still available (old book) so that is why it went to where it did and no bearings have been able to be gotten. I guess if I looked hard enough I could find them but by the time I spend all the money and time I could have a brand new one at standard I was just wondering if anyone had any kind of experiences with the new ones.

HI Clint.. Regardless, were they ever able to find 0.060 under bearings.. just curious for the future.. Jim
