TO 30 lift arms would not go down with engine running.
I made the mistake of taking the top cover off the hydraulic section without unhooking arms that attach to relief valve.
Now I wonder if I have ruined the valve. It is loose and I can not get things hooked back up. Any advice would be appreciated.

Before you remove the cover, you have to unhook the wishbone to the valve by opening the right side inspection port, the one with the dipstick and the reaching in there. If yours is not hooked up properly now, that would be the way to re-hook it. However, perhaps you broke it when you removed the cover? If so, you will need to make sure it is unhooked and remove the cover again and fix whatever is broken before you hook it up again. You should get a manual. I'm guessing you don't have one.

Yes, you are correct, I do not have a manual and should have one.
I figured out how to replace the wishbone, but the relief valve at the bottom is bent, due no doubt to the improper removal. The cross-bar that goes into the end of the wishbone is not bent and attaches ok, but the silver tube that it goes into is loose. Is that a problem?

That Relief Valve you talk about is the Control Valve and it attaches the the Control Fork that runs down from the Top Cover. The Control Valve has a Short cross-bar that runs between the two legs of the Control Fork and both legs should be attached to the Cross-bar. then there is a short connecting piece that goes from the Cross-bar to the Control Valve, this has a spring on the outside and it is as loose as the spring will allow it to be. The spring runs on the outside of the Connecting piece between the Cross-bar and the inside of the Control Valve, it keeps everything spread out and in position. The Silver tube as you call it (the Control Valve) should be inside its bush in the Pump body and it should not be loose as it is held by the Bush. When you say it is loose do you mean it will slide in and out of the Bush because that is OK but if it will move anywhere then it has come out of the Bush and needs to be replaced.
