Thanks very much to those who replied with great advice on putting a kit through my Zenith 24T Carby. The low speed jet was nearly blocked and the main air jet was missing completely. So I put in new needle and seat and butterfly valve, cleaned out the low speed jet and scrounged up a replacement main air jet. Now the Te20 runs again. so my next job will be setting the carb adjustments just right, I have set them at the factory recomended starting points, and I will also need to check the timing I suppose. Thank you all very much for your assistance and advice. As allways ALL Advice Greatfully accepted.

Make sure that you have the pre-requisite FAT, BLUISH WHITE SPARK, the correct timing and that the centrifugal advance mechanism is working correctly BEFORE you try to adjust your carburetor. Get the engine to operating temperature then make the adjustments. You may have to adjust the main jet richer when you're working if you are under high load conditions. You'll know the power jet is pretty close to correct when you can accelerate the engine under load without the engine hesitating. You want to make sure you are not too lean becuase you'll burn the exhaust valves.(The Continentals take advantage of the evaporative cooling from the fuel vaporizing to cool the air charge going into the cylinder.) The general rule for M-S carbs is no less than one full turn out on the main jet. Don't know about the Zenith.
Hope this helps.
