My mechanic grabbed ahold of the distributor and pulled it out of the block with ease-then set it back in---we work on the tractor about every 4 or 5 th day, this is 3rd day in cycle, it finally occured to me that the distributor probably has to be reseated in a certain position in order to fire properly--also, was wondering if there is a screw missing that holds the distributor in place.
-- feedback appreciated

I am not sure of the distributor type on a to-20, but a to-30 has a single bolt hold down secureing the distributor in place with a clamping ring. You can not remove the distributor without loosening the clamp. This also keeps the distributor from rotating out of time. If a distributor is re-installed even one tooth off on the gear drive, it may not run at all, and you will never get the correct timing.

thanks for the info on the "one tooth"-wish i had the money to just turn it over to a real mechanic but at this point i do not. I have the manuels so i recon i will have to get busy reading up on it.
