Question, do the brake pedals on a to35 have springs to bring them back up, or do they rely on the spring returns within the brake drums to do so. I was tinkering with one of the ol girls and noticed the brake pedal hanging down. I can lift up with toe and she comes up over an inch. the brake is working fine, just bugs me that they don't come up nice and equal like the other fergy. Thanks, Its still too crappy in Fort Wayne, but I'm lookin' forward to a project. Many thanks to all. mark

They rely on the springs in the Drum to pull them back...What has most likely happened is that someone has been trying to adjust the brakes by altering the length of the brake rods, you can't do it this way, you need to adjust the shoes by the adjuster in the Brake Drum. Insert a medium size screwdriver in the slot in the brake back plate and move the handle towards the axle to tighten the brakes fully.Do this with the brake rods uncoupled, adjust the rods so that you get 3 or 4 clicks on the parking ratchet on the foot brake (with the shoes fully adjusted up tight) and the clevis pins on the yoke ends just slide in place, you need to pull the rods towards the front of the tractor as you check the adjustment so that you remove all the free play before you slide the pins in the clevis. Now slacken the brake shoes off approx. 6 "clicks" in the drum and test the brakes for pulling up even by locking the wheels with the lightest possible pressure on the pedal, if you press too hard the brakes will lock but they can still be unbalanced when you come to stop under normal driving conditions because you only press the pedal lightly when you are driving normally.
