Got the "50 TO-20 split, the engine torn down and need to remove the sleeves. How do I do that without messing things up?
No, I have not even tried anything and this engine has been done before as is evident by the numbers stamped on the con rods and caps.
Thank You!
Bruce

Made a trip and got the supplies to build one. Got home and got side tracked with the Electrlosis tank for cleaning parts...The week end is coming and more time to play!!

Bruc,
The sleeves on my TO-30 were tough to pull (but the new ones were easy to install.) I ended up destroying two home-made pullers before I broke down and made one with 3/4" all thread and a few feet of 1" x 1/2" steel bar. That puller didn"t bend. I did use some 2x4 wood blocks to keep my puller from resting on the top of the engine block.

well bruc...ya got a couple options. if you have the pistons out you can take a hardwood block and a hammer and start pounding at the bottom of the sleeves like i did. you have an advantage here tho since it sounds like you gotchers on the bench. yours might come out pretty easy since you say it's been done before. if you can get 'em to pop out that fist fraction of and inch, they usually come out pretty easy the rest of the way. notice that i did say "usually", and i did say use a hardwood block on the bottom of the sleeves. do not burr or bend or misshapen the bottom edge of the sleeves.

your second option is to ask one of these guys on this forum real nice like, to post a picture or two of their home made sleeve pullers. they're real clever, pretty simple to make, and probably work real well. i wouldn't know cuz i didn't find this forum til AFTER i'd done it...dern! have fun and don't give up. most of us have succeeded in getting 'em out, and one of us isn't much of a mechanic. (me)
