TO 35 tractormeter cable

When I bought my TO 35 last fall I ordered a new tractormeter and tried to get a new cable. The major MF internet sites did not list one and this site said they were no longer available but they had one that was a replacement but it was approx a foot longer. They have been setting on my parts shelf untill tonight.

With my rebuilt genny installed and running right, I pulled my old cable which is not usable and installed the new one. I looped the extra foot under the battery box. Started the tractor and nothing. Took it all apart and found the tractormeter was siezed up and the new cable twisted off already

I had an original 8n tach cable on the parts shelf. Its very heavy, ugly looking but usable so I drug it out. Tach end is exactly the same, genny end appeared to be the same threads but uses a round pin with a tang of sorts, the Ferg needs a small sq pin. I put the 8n cable in the bench vice and was able to file the genny end square. It turns out the genny threads are the same as well as the cables are the same length.

I installed my new replacement tractormeter (from this site) and my older than dirt 8n tach cable and she runs!

Hello, I called the Massey Ferguson dealer up in "Militia" land and was told I can get the 12V generator with the tractometer gearing. Sounds like a $300.00 investment. Will do when I sell the 2N...maybe. I think that Dean Austin was the guy that told me that generators for the 100 series MF tractors would work on the TO35.

There was one on ebay last month. THey dont come along every day but once in a while they do

hey john...that's great! man would i like to figure a way to get mine working but my 35 has an alternator set up, the original genny is gone and the cable is too. i guess i don't really need it but, it sure would be fun to have a working one since it's right there on the tractor already. glad you got yours working.
