Hello --am getting ready to begin fixing or overhauling engine on Our TO 20--a couple years ago, my Father jury rigged the oil pan plug-failed, tractor ran out of oil--they drove it up a smallish hill back tothe barn, then pushed it in, been there ever since. ---Going to try to do the minimum first, never know , with fresh oil, get it unfroze it thats the case, heck it might start up and run ok-(probably not)putting fresh oil in.

two Questions please. 1.) i have a new gasket, do i use gasket seal installing it?

2.) What oil do I use for the crankcase?

Weather is finally breaking, man that was a long january febuary.

thanks

If it's the pan gasket, yes, use sealer. If it's the large rubber gasket where you change the oil filter, do NOT use sealer. Any sealer you use there will act as a lubricant and the gasket will squirt out the side.

mike...two more questions. which gasket are you talking about...the oil pan gasket? if so, sure! use gasket seal. do you live where it's cold? if so a good multi-grade, 10w 30 will work well for you. if you live where it gets hot like me try a 10 or 15w 40. the manual for a to-20 calls for straight 30w....if you want to go by the manual.

by the way...lots of good knowlege and info about your tractor on the harry ferguson forum on this web-site. click on "show all forums" and scroll down.
