Hi guys, question: Are there any rear wheel weights availible for a TO 30? My 30 has a bucket loader, and I could use some weight in the caboose. The tractor had loaded tires on it when I got it, but I've since replaced them with ones that are not. Thanks for any ideas.

Mick:

As Powerband said, the first step is to load the tires. I missed that your new tires were not loaded when I made my earlier post.

If you do fill them, I recommend Rimgard. It is non corrosive, heavier than CaCl and of course it doesn't freeze.

Ok Dean, All I know about the loaded tires that came off my 30, is that they were calcium filled and it rotted the rims. Also killed a large patch of grass where the tractor sat for a while. Not interested in that again. Tell me about this Rimgard. I would like to avoid the wheel weights, because they're a pain, and the counter weight off the three point just means another thing taken up space.

Mick:

Rim Guard is a relatively new liquid ballast for tractor tires. It is made from sugar beets and is entirely organic.

You can find their website here:

You can contact them to find a dealer in your area.

Good luck.

I have the same type as Ed-NY. I live in northern Indiana. They are for sale as well.

You mentioned the To originally had loaded tires. Why not "load" the new tires?. Simple and traditional.

I'll bet you could use a set of those Ford Pie weights. They came in two sizes and the heavy ones are about 1200 lbs total. They are also easy to bolt on a piece of pie at a time, once the mounting hardware is bolted on.

Where are you located? I have a heavy set of pie wts, complete with all mounting hardware for $400. They are in s.w. PA....and heavy. I can load onto a pickup but can't ship.

I have wheel weights that I took of my TO 30.
I believe they came off an N-series ford.
They are the 2 piece weights and fit in the wheel indent so I do know they make them.
Unless you lived close and could pick them up, the shipping would probably be more than what they are worth.
Anyhow this is to let you know that they do make them and they should be in the $200 dollar range.

Thanks Ed, I'm in south eastern Connecticut. How far up are you? I've got family around Deleware County.

You could easily make a rear weight for the 3-point. Get a medium size metal bucket or make ply-wood forms. Fit a drawbar through it and fill with concrete. The pins on the drawbar are used to pick the weight up.

Mick:

The Ford "pie" weights will fit your TO but these are expensive and it is a bit hard to find a complete set unless you buy the new Chinese made reproductions.

There are also some inside-mounted three piece weights made for Ford Ns but these are harder to find though generally less expensive.

Why not just make a counterweight for your three point lift?

Dean
