Just changed my hydrulic oil in my 1951 TO30. The lift works as well as it did 56 years ago. If your lift is in good shape and you are having lifting problems, you might want to try changing your fluid. It's the best 45 dollars I've spent in a long time.

Robert, The cost was 2 gals for $25 at 8 gals that comes to a $100 for me. I think I'll run it a bit and change it again at the end of the summer. My lift "starts" lifting with the handle at about half way up. Wondering if that is normal. Seems to lift all the way up. Any input on that. Thanks guys. Hello to Mike.

The position of the lever when the implement starts to lift will vary depending on any wear in the internal linkage and the amount of free end play in the Draft Control Spring at the back of the seat, it should be that you can just turn this when you have an implement lifted, if there is play in it, it needs adjusting to take it out, this would cause the lever to be out of position and also erratic depth control. It should also start to drop at 2-1/2" from the top of the quadrant, if it is different to this it needs adjusting. Just the other day I was wondering why my blade was lifting so slowly on my TEA and finally looked in the filler hole. Looked lilke mushroom soup swirling around in there. I think I changed that oil 3 years ago or so but it is already really in need of a good flushing. Amazing how contaminated with water 5 gallons of oil can get in that amount of time.

sounds to me like you need some new shifter boots. if they get old and cracked, and your tractor sits out in the rain and snow alot, water can leak in around them.
