Motor oil for my TO30

I just tried to change the motor oil in my TO30.The plug is rounded off so I did not have any luck. I will let my son do it as he likes to lay on the ground anyway. I have two questions. Is the oil plug something special I will have trouble finding and is there an all weather motor oil I can use so I do not have to change it every season? Thanks guys you have all helped me in the past and I appreciate it.

I use 10w30 in my 35 gas since the old manual says 30 wt as the heaviest for it.

I tried 15W40 in my TO-30 and it had a definite adverse effect on cold weather starting so I switched to 10W40. It still started in cold weather with 15W40 but the engine turned over more slowly. If you live in a climate with moderate winters 15W40 will be fine.

Yeah, I use 10W40 also. Year round. No oil pressure problems, and turns over easier in the Winter than 30W. I still have a partial jug of 30Wt and use that for the air filter only... year round.

I mostly use 15W40 in my tractors. I am in Virginia, and that weight works well for me year 'round. 30 wt. would be fine in the warmer weather, but I don't change the oil in my tractors but once a year and it is so much easier to use the same oil throughout. As for the oil plug, I have never tried to find one, but I have three thoughts: check the boneyards, as you might find one there; and if you have a good machine shop close by, you probably can take the old one to them and they can make you one with little trouble; and last, the plugs might be available new, and if so your MF dealer should have them or have a listing for them.

i think it calls for 30w oil. i ran bp 15-40 in mine without any problems and also used it in the air cleaner bath oil. but just my 2 cents
