My 1955 TO 35 restoration is going well but I have a few questions maybe someone can answer. A leaking seal on one rear axel gave me a very oily brake drum and brake shoes. What's the best way to clean that mess up? Also, is the leaking seal the one at the outermost end of the axel trumpet? I read something about a Sure Seal? Do I need that? I have drained the transmission and the differential of some very old oil. I don't plan on dissasembling either one but do I need to wash them out with something to remove all traces of the old oil? If so what? I also have noticed quite a bit of oil leaking down from the small hole underneath the clutch housing. What seals could be causing this? I have the engine removed so there is easy access to the area inside the clutch housing. I know this covers a lot but I'm trying to stop all my oil leaks before I even attempt cleaning and painting.

Sure seals are not for the 35 series, they already have two seals fitted to the axle shafts, these will require changing and possibly the bearing replacing, check it when it is separated.
The oil leak from the Clutch housing, it depends on which hole is weeping, if it is the front one next to the engine it is the Rear Main Oil seal on the Crankshaft, if it is the rear hole then it is possibly the seal on the drive shaft into the transmission or maybe one of the plates on the end of the shafts in the transmission is slack or the gasket has blown. and tell me what you need and I will send it. To wash the oil off the parts, just use anything that you have that will dissolve oil. To wash the whole thing out, the top really needs to come off, I can send you the Info on how to do that if you wish.

you need to replace axel seals, easy, not cheap

front leak is front trans or engine rear, must split tractor

remove hyd top assy and use pressure washer

use only 90 wt oil or equal
