I would like to run a hydraulic operated lime spreader off the back of my TO30. Is there any way to tap in to the hydraulics on this thing to be able to run the lime spreader? I see a couple threaded plugs on the side of the gear case.. would that be where I tap in? What all do I need? keep in mind, i'm clueless

The tractor will have at least two maybe four points at which you can take-off hydraulic power. There will be two on the Hydraulic Pump which is right at the bottom below the seat, the points are diagonally opposite each other, either will do, just be careful screwing anything in there as the metal is quite soft. Possibly on your tractor you may have another two points just forward of the seat, one either side on the Top Cover, they have provision for an Allen wrench to unscrew them. You can only take power off from these points, you have to return the oil somehow but do not do it through the oil filler plug near to the gear shift lever on top of the transmission. it should be done through one of the round port covers, on the side just below the seat. You need to know how much power you need to drive this spreader and how many gallons per minute it will require, the tractor Pump will provide about 2.7gpm which will give about 2.6kw power at 2000psi, this may not be enough for your spreader, you will have to check its requirements. Someone else here can probably tell you where to tap into the hydralics. My dad did this with a Ford 9n to use a front loader and it was a valve located on the right side that was added. One thing to remember is that you will be bypassing the lift capablities and the lift arms need to be chained down to supply the pressure to the impliment. The other option would be to add a hydralic pump to the front of the tractor. Sorry I wasn't much help, I do remember a recent post for a TO with a loader and he had the bypass valve in it.
